The Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) has released important updates regarding governance applications, award nominations, upcoming educational programs, and certification exams for 2025. Below is a summary of key dates and information for IPT members.
I. Application Deadline for IPT Officers and Board of Governors
IPT members holding the CMI or CCIP designation are eligible to apply for leadership positions. The deadline to apply for Board of Governors positions (3 openings) and the 2nd Vice President position is March 3, 2025.
Officer’s Rotation
The incumbent 2nd VP is nominated to become the 1st VP.
The incumbent 1st VP is nominated to become President.
The incumbent President becomes the Immediate Past President.
The open position for applications is 2nd VP.
Board Responsibilities & Entitlements
Board meetings take place in November, March, and at the Annual Conference, requiring at least one overnight stay.
IPT reimburses Board members up to $3,750 per year for travel, lodging, and meal expenses.
Registration fees are waived for annual conferences, symposiums, and one IPT School per year.
Eligibility & Application Process
Candidates must be a Designated IPT Member in good standing (holding a CMI or CCIP and with dues paid).
Application forms can only be obtained by emailing IPT Executive Director Chris G. Muntifering, CMI, at [email protected].
Completed applications must be submitted by March 3, 2025 (email preferred).
II. IPT Award Nominations
Nominations for IPT’s various awards are due by February 21, 2025. Award categories include:

Instructor of the Year Award

IV. 2025 CMI/CCIP Exam Schedule
Exam Format Update
CMI Sales Tax written exams will now be administered via ExamSoft, a computer-based software, but must still be taken in person at designated locations.
Detailed instructions will be provided one month prior to testing.
