Women in Tax Launches New Florida Bar Tax Section Initiative

The Florida Bar Tax Section has launched Women in Tax, a new initiative designed to support women in the tax profession through networking, professional development, leadership programming, and practical education. Upcoming programs include workplace wellness, personal finance for female lawyers, and trusts and estates basics.

A New Initiative for Women in Florida’s Tax Community

The Florida Bar Tax Section officially launched Women in Tax during the Tax Section’s Organizational Meeting in Amelia Island, introducing a new initiative focused on networking, professional development, and engagement within Florida’s tax profession.

The inaugural event brought together women from across the Tax Section to connect with colleagues, discuss professional interests, and learn more about opportunities for involvement within the Section. The launch represents the beginning of an ongoing effort to provide programming designed to support women throughout their careers while strengthening connections across Florida’s tax community.

Women in Tax will offer both virtual and in-person programming throughout the year. The initiative is intended to create opportunities for members to expand professional relationships, share ideas, and become more active within the Tax Section.

The program is open to professionals from a variety of backgrounds, including tax attorneys, CPAs, government professionals, in-house tax personnel, and other professionals whose work intersects with tax matters.

Looking Ahead

Women in Tax plans to continue offering a variety of educational and networking opportunities throughout the year.

Future programming is expected to include social gatherings, networking events, leadership discussions, career development programming, practice management topics, and discussions involving current issues affecting tax professionals.

The initiative is designed to complement the Tax Section’s existing substantive tax programming while creating additional opportunities for members to engage with colleagues and become involved in Section activities.

Why This Initiative Matters

Professional organizations play an important role in fostering relationships within specialized practice areas, and tax law is no exception.

Women in Tax provides a forum where professionals can connect with peers, expand professional networks, and participate in discussions that extend beyond traditional technical tax education. By combining networking opportunities with educational programming, the initiative seeks to strengthen engagement within the Florida Bar Tax Section and the broader Florida tax community.

As the program develops, Women in Tax is expected to serve as another avenue through which professionals can build relationships, exchange ideas, and become active participants in the future of Florida’s tax profession.
