The Florida Bar Tax Section held its spring meeting in the Bahamas at the legendary Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas Resort from May 2-4, 2024. Tax Section Chair Shawn Wolf planned an unforgettable weekend filled with Lord of the Rings references. Always inclusive, the event included a pickleball tournament for family members to attend while their family tax lawyer attended meetings and a half-day CLE on pre-immigration tax planning. 

Meanwhile, the American Bar Association Section of Taxation, State and Local Tax Committee, met on May 2-4, 2024, at the Marriott Marquis in Washington DC. The panels included: Arguing Tax Cases Before the U.S. Supreme Court; Cases Denied Cert. by the U.S. Supreme Court Impacting State and Local Tax; The Impact of State Administrative Procedure Acts on Informal DOR “Guidance”; Obstacles and Opportunities; and Exploring Attacks on Intercompany Transactions.
